Nifty websites and gadgetry

Ivana suggested this website: www.normaleating.com. I joined their forum, which cost $25. It amused me greatly to pay for this with my Paypal account, which was stocked with funds from auctioning off all my old diet food on eBay. I love that I used the profits from a failed diet to pay for access to an anti-dieting community. I’m in the midst of reading their eBook, and so far their philosophy resonates deeply with what I’m feeling is true for myself around food. I’ll keep you updated.

Saska suggested this this nifty gadget, that measures your caloric output, among several other things. I am soooooo tempted to get one, except that I just blew a large cash outlay on this other nifty gadget (an Amazon Kindle), and after seeing how addicted I am to it, Greg wants one too. Still, I think I would love the GoWear gadget and it would likely be fascinating and enlightening to see the data. I want to give myself another couple weeks to settle into my 5 Point Plan, and then I’ll see how I feel about introducing something new.

I paid the $25, too, but haven’t posted to the forum yet. I’m still working on the eBook, but I’m not a fan of reading whole books online…maybe I’ll get it from the library.

I like that the author was a fan of _Fat is a Feminist Issue_, which I read eons ago.

I haven’t posted yet either. I want to finish the eBook, but yeah, it’s annoying to read it online. I’ve never read Fat is a Feminist Issue. I’ll see if I can pick up a copy.

The big challenge to getting something out of the armband is to be good about logging your food. Food logging is something you can do for free in places like FitDay and Sparkpeople, and it might be a good intermediate step to try and do it for a little while before buying the armband – because it won’t do you a whole lot of good if you can’t really compare intake to expediture. :)

If you decide to go that route, feel free to e-mail me. I’ve gone through a lot of trial and error for how to accurately log what I cook at home, and can probably save you some time and experimentation.
