My friend Sonja sent me a link this morning to a picture of these hot dogs, which were stuck with dry spaghetti when cold, and then boiled to create these completely awesome Cthulhu-squid-spaghetti monster dogs.
You can find the original post on Livejournal, where the guy who posted the photo says:
…..we tentatively call “hot dogs strikes back”. it is primarily made by inserting dried spaghetti into the hot dogs and then boiling the resulting concoctions. it is fun to make and fun to eat for the whole family and the variations seem endless.
You know what my first thought was? TOFU DOGS! Those things need some sprucing up. Whaddya say? I’m going to put them on my shopping list.
holy shit. these are SO COOL.
Tofu dogs sadly do not react well to boiling, especially not for the amount of time it takes to cook spaghetti. You’d have mushy tofu chunks in with your noodles. :(
But they totally work with hot dogs made of dog, or other meat. (ha)
Bummer deluxe! Maybe there’s some other kind of hot dog. Seitan dog?
Well, there’s always turkey dogs. And chicken dogs. And corn dogs. On second thought, I don’t think corn dogs would work all that well with this….
I was thinking of a vegan dog, although now I seriously want to try a corn dog. Squid on a stick! BREADED!
We totally tried this!!!! (I have small kids in my house, what can I say? And with vermicelli (very fine noodles), and pretty big chunks of tofu dog, we had quite the lovely “squid dogs” bwa-ha-ha-ha! I’ll post pix when I find my camera cable.
Three words:
Flying spaghetti monster.
Yeah, I included that in the name. :) Although I forgot “flying”.
hmm… i have an awesome idea.. EAT MEAT! lolz try making them with REAL meat and no worries about boiling them. otherwise, give up, you’re opting to be vegan/vegetarian, there are certain dishes that were built from the ground up as MEAT, not “meat substitute” you’re bastardizing the culinary world with these abominations. i speak as a fellow on the road to possibly vegan compatriot mind you. but i also speak as a culinary school grad and working chef. if you want to kick meat, then kick meat and all the dishes that resemble meat, its just a waste of time and makes you look pathetic.
